Some US state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. This page explains what we actually do with it, and how to exercise that right anyway.
1. The short answer
We never sell your personal information for money. We do *share* some of it for cross-context behavioural advertising, in the specific sense California and other state privacy laws give that phrase — but only if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner, and never for health data. This page tells you exactly what that means and how to stop it.
We use the Meta advertising pixel and Meta's server-side conversion measurement, so that we can tell which ads actually bring people here, and FrontrowMD's measurement script, which lets FrontrowMD measure how its “Clinicians' Choice” badge performs on our pages. None of them loads until you choose “Accept all” — advertising is a separate choice from analytics in the banner, and it starts switched off. Choosing “Analytics only”, choosing “Reject all”, or turning on Global Privacy Control means nothing advertising-related ever loads or is sent; the badge itself is still shown, but without its measurement. We use no TikTok pixel, no Google Ads tag and no other advertising SDK.
We do not sell consumer health data or disclose it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose consumer health data only as described in our Privacy Policy and applicable Consumer Health Data Privacy Notices, with your authorization or consent where required, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
2. What we do collect, and who gets it
We collect personal information from your interactions with us and with this website, including through cookies and similar technologies. Section 1 of our Privacy Policy describes the categories of personal information we collect, and section 6 describes the categories of service providers and current providers that may process personal information on our behalf.
- The companies that receive data are the ones that make the service work: our database, our payment processor, our email provider, our host, and — only if you accept analytics cookies — two product-analytics tools and a website-traffic tool.
- Meta is the one advertising network we send conversion data to, and only if you choose “Accept all”. What it receives is: that a browser visited a marketing page of this site, and — when you buy — the amount, the currency, an order reference and the plan name, plus matching details so it can connect the sale to an ad. Your email address, your name, your city, state, postal code and country, and our internal account identifier are scrambled into an irreversible code before they are sent, so Meta can match the sale without ever reading them. Two values are *not* scrambled, because they are Meta's own identifiers and scrambling them would make them useless: the cookies its pixel places in your browser, which identify the device rather than you by name.
- FrontrowMD, which provides the “Clinicians' Choice” badge, is the other company that receives browsing data for its own purposes, and also only if you choose “Accept all”. Its script receives the address of the page where the badge appears (including any campaign tags in it), when the badge is seen or clicked, and when you click a buy button, with that button's text; it keeps its own identifier for your browser and places its own cookies, which it uses to recognise the same browser on other websites that show its badges. It receives no name, no email address, no order details and nothing about your health. Without “Accept all” the badge is still shown, but none of this is sent.
- We do not buy personal information from anyone, and we do not receive it from any list, broker or enrichment service.
3. How to opt out anyway
You can stop the advertising sharing at any time, and it takes effect immediately. There are three ways:
- Choose “Analytics only” or “Reject all” in our cookie banner — you can reopen it at any time with the button on this page — to stop the advertising and badge-measurement sharing with Meta and FrontrowMD described above; choose “Reject all” to also switch off analytics. Where consent is required, non-essential technologies will not be intentionally activated through our consent-management system unless you accept them.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or extension. We detect that signal and treat it as an opt-out request automatically — see section 4.
- Write to us at support@femstate.me or through the contact page, and we will apply it to your record.
You do not need an account, and we will not ask you to create one to exercise this right.
4. Global Privacy Control
If you visit this site with the Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signal enabled, we treat it as a request to opt out of any activity that could be considered a sale or sharing of personal information, or targeted advertising, for the browser and device you are using.
Where required by applicable law, we recognize a supported Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising for the browser or device through which the signal is communicated. Our systems are configured to apply the signal according to our current privacy controls and applicable law.
A Global Privacy Control signal generally applies to the browser or device through which the signal is communicated. Where applicable law requires us to associate the request with a known consumer account, we will apply the request accordingly. You may also contact us directly using the methods in Section 3.
5. Your other rights
Opting out is one of several rights you may have depending on where you live. Section 9 of our Privacy Policy covers access, deletion, correction and portability, and how to ask for any of them. If you are in Washington or Nevada, our health-data notices apply as well: Washington and Nevada.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Exercising certain rights may affect features that require the personal information you ask us to delete or stop processing, but we will not deny you unrelated products or services or charge you a different price merely because you exercised a privacy right.
Where the law allows it, you can name an authorised agent to make a request for you. We may ask for proof that they are authorised, and we may verify your identity separately before acting.
