Some US state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. This page explains what we actually do with it, and how to exercise that right anyway.
1. The short answer
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Those two phrases have specific meanings under California and other state privacy laws, and neither of them describes anything we do.
There is no advertising pixel anywhere on this site — no Meta or Facebook pixel, no TikTok pixel, no Google Ads tag — and no advertising SDK of any kind. Nobody is building an advertising audience out of the fact that you visited us, because there is nothing here feeding one.
We do not sell consumer health data or disclose it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose consumer health data only as described in our Privacy Policy and applicable Consumer Health Data Privacy Notices, with your authorization or consent where required, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
2. What we do collect, and who gets it
We collect personal information from your interactions with us and with this website, including through cookies and similar technologies. Section 1 of our Privacy Policy describes the categories of personal information we collect, and section 6 describes the categories of service providers and current providers that may process personal information on our behalf.
- The companies that receive data are the ones that make the service work: our database, our payment processor, our email provider, our host, and — only if you accept analytics cookies — two product-analytics tools.
- None of them is an advertising network, a data broker, or an ad-targeting partner.
- We do not buy personal information from anyone, and we do not receive it from any list, broker or enrichment service.
3. How to opt out anyway
There is nothing to opt out of today, but you can still tell us to treat you as opted out, and we will record it. There are three ways:
- Reject non-essential analytics cookies through our cookie controls. Where consent is required, analytics and other non-essential technologies will not be intentionally activated through our consent-management system unless you accept them. You can change your cookie choices using the privacy controls available on the site.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or extension. We detect that signal and treat it as an opt-out request automatically — see section 4.
- Write to us at support@femstate.me or through the contact page, and we will apply it to your record.
You do not need an account, and we will not ask you to create one to exercise this right.
4. Global Privacy Control
If you visit this site with the Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signal enabled, we treat it as a request to opt out of any activity that could be considered a sale or sharing of personal information, or targeted advertising, for the browser and device you are using.
Where required by applicable law, we recognize a supported Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising for the browser or device through which the signal is communicated. Our systems are configured to apply the signal according to our current privacy controls and applicable law.
A Global Privacy Control signal generally applies to the browser or device through which the signal is communicated. Where applicable law requires us to associate the request with a known consumer account, we will apply the request accordingly. You may also contact us directly using the methods in Section 3.
5. Your other rights
Opting out is one of several rights you may have depending on where you live. Section 9 of our Privacy Policy covers access, deletion, correction and portability, and how to ask for any of them. If you are in Washington or Nevada, our health-data notices apply as well: Washington and Nevada.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Exercising certain rights may affect features that require the personal information you ask us to delete or stop processing, but we will not deny you unrelated products or services or charge you a different price merely because you exercised a privacy right.
Where the law allows it, you can name an authorised agent to make a request for you. We may ask for proof that they are authorised, and we may verify your identity separately before acting.
